Nominations for the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission
(NDDC) became a battle front for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party
and Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
According to reports, positions of executive director, finance and administration usually allocated to Rivers governor to pick nominees was conceded to Education Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The NDDC is restricted oil producing states with the governors sending nominees for board members to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in the Presidency.
The member states of the NDDC are Cross-Rivers Edo, Delta, Akwa-Ibom,Abia, Ondo, Imo and Bayelsa.
